City of Chippewa Falls issued the following announcement on Dec. 16
Due to an open drawdown gate at the Glen Loch Dam located on the north side of Chippewa Falls near Irvine Park and Erickson Park, the water levels in Glen Loch Lake are fluctuating. This has created extremely unsafe ice conditions due to an air void between the water and the ice. Until further notice, we are asking the public to please stay off the ice at Glen Loch Lake.
The Public Works Department in coordination with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources are reviewing the issue and at this time believe there is no imminent danger to the public living downstream. Barricades have been set, and additional signage will be placed at the Erickson Park boat landing access to the Lake.
