Sonnentag earns largest LEED gold certification in Wisconsin-Minnesota
The Sonnentag, a 204,666-square-foot recreational facility in Wisconsin and Minnesota, has earned the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) gold certification. This makes it the largest LEED gold-certified facility of its type in these states and the third largest in the Midwest, according to the U.S. Green Building Council.

UWEC students collaborate with Mayo Clinic on AI model for medical reports
University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (UWEC) students Brayden Mau and Alex Rolli are collaborating with Dr. Rahul Gomes, associate professor of computer science, and Mayo Clinic Health System professionals to develop an AI model aimed at improving patient care by summarizing and extracting key information from colonoscopy reports.

Chancellor outlines strategy for UWEC's growth
During the annual Blugold Breakfast and academic year opening meeting on Tuesday, Chancellor Schmidt outlined a strategic vision for the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (UWEC) aimed at distinguishing the institution through new strategies. "If we want to be a top-tier institution, we’ll need new strategies driven by what works best for elite institutions, while changing what isn’t working for us now," Schmidt stated. "This will require all of us to grab an oar and row in the same direction."

Sonnentag grand opening week features concerts by Chris Young & Brian Regan
Activities from Sept. 9-14 will include an open house at the building on Menomonie Street, a salute to first responders, a comedy show by national comedian Brian Regan, a concert by country music star Chris Young, and the new facility’s first intercollegiate athletics competition. Curt Krizan named new president of UW-Eau Claire Foundation
Curt Krizan, a magna cum laude graduate in accounting from UW-Eau Claire in 1993, has been appointed as the new Foundation president, executive director of the Blugold Real Estate Foundation, and executive director of the Blugold Innovation Foundation. Additionally, Krizan will serve as an assistant chancellor at UW-Eau Claire. He will assume his new role on August 26.
