The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against the University of Wisconsin-Stout on Wednesday at Simpson Field. The Blugolds took the lead in the second half, but UW-Stout equalized soon after.
During the first half, UW-Eau Claire created several chances with shots from Sabrina Pickart and Olivia Lukrafka Varassin. Magnolia Millar Bruzek and Johanna Thompson also tested UW-Stout's goalkeeper Kaitlyn Krengel, who kept the game scoreless through halftime.
In the second half, the Blugolds continued their offensive push. Taylor Bembnister had a shot saved before Mikalyn Hidde scored in the 79th minute to give UW-Eau Claire a 1-0 advantage. However, Anna Odisho responded for UW-Stout just two minutes later to tie the match.
Both teams exchanged opportunities in the closing minutes. Bella Jones made two saves for UW-Eau Claire while facing 13 shots. Millar Bruzek led her team with four shots, one on target, and Thompson added two shots with one on goal.
After this result, UW-Eau Claire's record stands at 2-7-4 overall and 1-0-1 in conference play. UW-Stout holds a 6-4-3 overall record and is 0-0-2 in conference matches.
