Kaitlyn Erickson of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire volleyball team has been named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Defensive Player of the Week for September 22-28. The announcement was made by the WIAC, with the selection determined by an anonymous vote from conference head coaches and Sports Information Directors.
Erickson played a key role in UW-Eau Claire's recent 3-1 win over UW-La Crosse on September 24, helping her team extend its winning streak to 13 matches. She recorded 26 digs, three assists, and had no reception errors during the match. Erickson averaged 6.50 digs per set and successfully handled all 18 serves directed at her. Her defensive performance contributed to holding UW-La Crosse’s hitting percentage below .235 in each set and .150 overall.
"This recognition is a testament to Kaitlyn's consistent defensive efforts and her contribution to our team's success," said a representative from the WIAC.
The award highlights Erickson’s impact on the court as UW-Eau Claire continues its strong season in conference play.
