The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire baseball team has received the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award for the 2024-25 academic year. The award, presented by Sports Attack, is given to ABCA member teams from all levels of high school and collegiate baseball that achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher during the academic year.
This marks the first time the Blugolds have earned this recognition since their program was reinstated in 2021. Eau Claire is one of four Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) teams to receive the honor for 2024-25.
According to the ABCA, "The American Baseball Coaches Association has a long tradition of recognizing the achievements of baseball coaches and student-athletes. The ABCA/Rawlings All-America Teams are the nation's oldest, founded in 1949, and the ABCA's awards program also includes the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Awards, the ABCA/ATEC Regional & National Coaches of the Year and several other major awards such as the ABCA Hall of Fame and the Dave Keilitz Ethics in Coaching Award."
The Team Academic Excellence Award highlights programs that excel both on and off the field by maintaining strong academic standards.
