University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire has announced the appointment of Jarrad Vroman as the new Head Women's Hockey Coach. Vroman, who is an alumnus of UW-Eau Claire, will be taking over after serving two seasons as an assistant coach for Augsburg University's men's hockey team. During his tenure there, the team secured a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season championship in 2024.
Director of Athletics Jason Verdugo expressed enthusiasm about Vroman's return: "We are proud to welcome Jarrad Vroman back to UW-Eau Claire as the Head Coach of our women's hockey program," said Verdugo. "Jarrad's deep roots in Blugold hockey, combined with his championship experience and strong leadership qualities, make him an exceptional fit for this role."
Vroman previously played for UW-Eau Claire's men's hockey team and contributed to their success by winning a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title in 2020 and a WIAC Commissioner's Cup in 2022. He scored 25 points during his college career.
Expressing gratitude for his new role, Vroman stated: "My family and I couldn't be more excited to come back to Eau Claire to lead the women's hockey program. I am thankful Jason Verdugo and the entire Athletics Administration who are entrusting me with a program that has had so much success and potential."
Before embarking on his coaching journey, Vroman spent one season playing professional hockey with the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs in the SPHL, where he helped them win the President's Cup in 2023. In addition to his professional achievements, he has been involved with Bowman Hockey and FHIT Hockey as an instructor and volunteered with Detroit Ice Dreams nonprofit.
Vroman resides in Eau Claire with his wife Bree—also a UW-Eau Claire women's hockey alumna—and their daughter Sophie.
