Blugolds claim three titles at WIAC Championships opening day

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's track and field teams achieved notable success on the first day of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships held at UW-Stevens Point. The Blugold women's team is currently in second place, while the men's team stands in third after Friday's events.

The men's team secured two individual titles. Johnny Botsch triumphed in the pole vault with a height of 5.06 meters, and Adam Strouf claimed victory in the shot put with a throw of 17.90 meters. On the women's side, Keeley Behr won the 5,000-meter run, finishing with a time of 17:59.67.

In addition to these victories, several Blugolds earned top-three finishes. Bella Hooker placed second in the women's one-mile run, Ella Williamson secured third place in the women's high jump, and Emilee Booker took second place in the women's long jump.

The WIAC Championships will conclude on Saturday, March 1. Fans can follow the Blugolds throughout their season via their website or social media platforms.
