The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's hockey team faced a challenging game against the 13th-ranked University of Wisconsin-Superior, resulting in a 4-1 loss on Friday at Hobbs Ice Arena. The Blugolds managed to equalize early in the second period but were unable to maintain their momentum against the Yellowjackets, who lead the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC).
In the first period, UW-Superior took an early lead with a power-play goal five minutes into the game. The Blugolds responded in the second period when Jordan Randall scored on a power play, assisted by Max Ruoho and Trenten Heyde. However, UW-Superior quickly regained their advantage with a goal shortly after Randall's equalizer and extended their lead with another power-play goal soon after.
The Yellowjackets secured their victory with an empty net goal in the final minutes of the third period. Ethan Roberts made 22 saves for UW-Eau Claire, while the Blugolds outshot their opponents 42-26.
