The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's indoor track and field teams started the Warren Bowlus Open positively on Friday at UW-Stout. Emilee Booker, a senior from Genoa City, Wisconsin, won the pentathlon with one of the top scores in Division III this season.
Booker accumulated 3,532 points to secure her victory in the pentathlon, ranking as the third-best performance in NCAA Division III this year. She placed in the top three across all five events, with wins in both the 60-meter hurdles and long jump. The Blugold women's team claimed the top four spots in the pentathlon. Emma Gruen took second place with 3,299 points, Lauryn Rustad finished third with 3,181 points, and Brooklyn Lamers secured fourth place with 3,156 points.
In the men's heptathlon event that also began on Friday, Max Foland is leading the Blugolds by placing third overall with 2,780 points. His best finish was second place in the 60-meter dash. The heptathlon will conclude on Saturday with three more events.
The meet will continue on Saturday, February 1st with remaining multis and all other track and field events starting at 9 a.m. in Menomonie.
