The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's basketball team achieved a decisive victory over Alma College, winning 75-49 in the consolation game of the Baldwin Wallace Invitational. The match took place on Monday in Berea, Ohio. The Blugolds started strong, scoring the first 15 points and maintaining their lead throughout to conclude their nonconference schedule for the 2024-25 season.

Kyla Overskei led UW-Eau Claire with 20 points and secured a spot on the all-tournament team. Reanna Hutchinson contributed significantly with 18 points, five steals, and four rebounds. Jessilyn Ernst recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds, while Lauren Meudt added another 10 points.

The Blugolds kept Alma scoreless for the first seven minutes of the game and led by at least 14 points after pulling away again following a brief comeback attempt by Alma in the second quarter. UW-Eau Claire maintained control by outscoring Alma in both the third (26-19) and fourth quarters (15-12).

UW-Eau Claire shot 43% from the field and made 19 of their 25 free throw attempts. They also dominated in rebounding, surpassing Alma with a count of 43-33.

Looking ahead, UW-Eau Claire will begin Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play against UW-La Crosse at home on Saturday, January 4th. The game is set to start at 5 p.m. at the Sonnentag Event Center.
