UW-Eau Claire to hold first commencement ceremonies at The Sonnentag

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will host its first commencement ceremonies at The Sonnentag on December 21. Two separate events are scheduled: one at 9 a.m. for the College of Business and College of Health and Human Sciences, and another at 1:30 p.m. for the College of Arts and Sciences and College of Nursing.

A total of 596 students are candidates for bachelor's degrees, distributed as follows: 220 from the College of Arts and Sciences, 158 from the College of Health and Human Sciences, 146 from the College of Business, and 72 from the College of Nursing. Additionally, there are 63 candidates for graduate degrees. The College of Business has 48 candidates for master's degrees, while the College of Arts and Sciences has 12 candidates, and three students are seeking master's degrees in the College of Health and Human Sciences.

Lauren Johnson from Richland Center will lead the alma mater during the morning ceremony as she pursues a bachelor’s degree in music education. In the afternoon ceremony, Audrey van Boven from Barrington, Illinois will lead as she works towards a bachelor’s degree in arts in music.

"Blugold Reflections" will be delivered by Meadow Barone from Cadott during the morning ceremony; she is a candidate for a bachelor’s degree in English and language arts teaching. Anna Westby from Stillwater, Minnesota will deliver "Blugold Reflections" in the afternoon ceremony; she is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in science in nursing.

Dr. Tayo Sanders will deliver "Charge to the Class" at both ceremonies. Sanders is one of UW-Eau Claire's two Rhodes Scholars and serves as co-founder and managing partner at Arrowpoint Labs as well as chief business officer at Singular Immune. He is among seven alumni recognized with awards during these ceremonies. Other award recipients include Kimera Way, Jason Jon Anderson (Honorary Alumnus Award), Jeffrey Kowieski (President’s Award), Heather Hoytink (Alumni Distinguished Achievement Award), Leiv Erik Lundberg, and Dr. Kathleen Hanlon-Lundberg (Lifetime Excellence Award).
