Marshfield's Eau Claire Student Nurses Association (ECSNA) has been a longstanding source of support and care within the community. Despite their busy schedules, these nursing students have devoted themselves to raising funds and giving back to local organizations through various initiatives. Their contributions include hosting free health screenings, immunization clinics, food drives, and guest speaker events focusing on healthcare careers.

The ECSNA has made significant impacts across different areas of the community by sponsoring dinners at the Ronald McDonald House, organizing teddy bear clinics for young students, adopting highways for cleanup efforts, and crafting blankets and greeting cards for patients in assisted living facilities and clinics. The volunteers have also contributed significantly to events like the Rotary Winter Wonderland. Beyond these notable activities, the group has engaged in numerous other fundraisers that have benefited local families and strengthened community bonds.

Following the announcement of the Marshfield site's closure last spring, ECSNA members have been thoughtfully deciding how to distribute funds they have raised over time. In a recent gesture of generosity, they fulfilled wish lists for three Marshfield charities — Mary’s Place, Shirley’s House of Hope, and the Orenda Center — purchasing over $1,500 worth of essential items such as toiletries, cleaning supplies, linens, as well as gifts for children supported by these organizations.

"Mary’s Place offers transitional housing services for individuals reestablishing themselves in the community," while "Shirley’s House of Hope provides emergency shelter for women and children in need." Additionally, "the Orenda Center supports individuals and families in crisis through advocacy and education." These donations demonstrate ECSNA’s dedication to maintaining their impact within Marshfield.

The current semester's ECSNA participants played a crucial role in this initiative. Members included Cianna Gemignani, Emma Panasuk, Bailey Matis, Megan Farley, Brianna Brandner, Elizabeth Patrick, Emma Dieckmann, Erin Young, Sarah Martin, Shawna Moen, Kaitlyn Kettler, Lydia Emery, Stephanie Kinzel, Beth Wittman and Camryn Fisher. Their commitment to service highlights the core values of nursing.

Two nursing students reflected on their involvement with ECSNA: “Being able to give back to the local community in a profound way and learn in-depth about these organizations was a great experience. Learning to be a community member and a nurse simultaneously is a rewarding process.”

As Marshfield ECSNA approaches its final year due to site closure plans next spring announced earlier this year," members will continue philanthropic efforts on smaller scales while managing academic demands."

The legacy created by ECSNA remains deeply rooted within both lives touched locally through supported entities - epitomizing what it means truly embodying spirit serving others foundationally
