A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the City of Elkhorn, Wisconsin, regarding new voter registrations on November 7, 2024. The request specifically sought a list of voters who registered on Election Day, November 5, 2024.
The request was made by us at Chippewa Valley Times, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs. As part of our commitment to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we believe it is crucial to have access to these public records.
As media professionals involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we requested that any associated fees be waived. This is in line with our role in disseminating information and ensuring the public's right to know.
