FOIA Request Sent to Town of Dewey Regarding New Voter Registrations on November 7, 2024

FOIA Request to Town of Dewey Regarding New Voter Registrations on November 7, 2024.

We at the Chippewa Valley Times have submitted a request under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., for a list of new voters who registered on November 5, 2024. The request was sent in our continuous effort to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

As a media organization committed to transparency and accountability in public institutions, access to such public records is crucial for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe that by obtaining this information, we can better serve our readers and the general public by shedding light on the voting patterns and participation in our community.

The request specifically asked for an electronic format of the list of newly registered voters from the aforementioned date. This is part of our ongoing coverage of election-related matters, particularly focusing on voter registration trends and their potential impact on electoral outcomes.

We have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional due to our role in gathering and reporting news to the public. We are awaiting a response from the Town of Dewey's office regarding this matter.

Should there be any questions or need for further clarification regarding our request, we are more than willing to engage in dialogue to ensure transparency and accuracy in our reporting.
