FOIA Request to Town of Emerald Regarding New Voter Registrations on November 7, 2024.
In our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Chippewa Valley Times have sent a request under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., to the Town of Emerald. The request was made for a list of new voters who registered to vote on November 5, 2024.
As a media organization dedicated to transparency and accountability in public institutions, access to such public records is crucial for us. It allows us to inform the public accurately about significant events like elections and the processes involved therein.
We believe that our role as media professionals qualifies us for a fee waiver for this request. This is in line with our mission to disseminate information freely and fairly to the public. We will continue our efforts in holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency through our reporting.
