A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the City Of Milwaukee regarding new voter registrations on November 7, 2024.
We at Chippewa Valley Times, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, requested the records under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq. Specifically, we asked for a list of new voters who registered to vote on November 5, 2024.
As a media organization committed to transparency and accountability in public institutions, access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe that this information will help provide clarity and transparency to the public about the electoral process.
Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional. We await a response from the City Of Milwaukee and will continue to keep our readers informed about developments in this matter.
