FOIA Request to City of Darlington Regarding New Voter Registrations on November 7, 2024.
In a bid to ensure transparency and hold public institutions accountable, we at Chippewa Valley Times have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Darlington. The request, made under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., was sent on November 7, 2024.
Our request specifically seeks access to a list of new voters who registered on Election Day - November 5, 2024. This information is vital in our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
As a media organization, we rely heavily on access to public records such as these to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe that this access not only aids us in our work but also promotes transparency for the public.
We have requested that the information be provided in an electronic format for ease of use and dissemination. In addition, given our role as a media organization disseminating information to the public, we have asked for a fee waiver for this request.
