The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's basketball team faced a tough challenge against the 11th-ranked Gustavus Adolphus College, resulting in a 73-49 defeat at the Sonnentag Event Center. The game marked the conclusion of their participation in the Market & Johnson Blugold Tip-Off Tournament.

Lauren Meudt, a junior from Waunakee, Wisconsin, scored 13 points for the Blugolds, achieving a new career high. Sophomore Jessilyn Ernst from Pardeeville, Wisconsin contributed eight points and secured a career-best nine rebounds.

Initially, both teams were evenly matched with a score tied at 13 after the first quarter. However, Gustavus Adolphus gained momentum in the second quarter by outscoring UW-Eau Claire 27-16. The Golden Gusties made six three-pointers during this period and executed a decisive 13-3 run late in the quarter to establish a lead of 40-29 by halftime.

In the second half, Gustavus extended their advantage with an 11-2 run that increased their lead to 20 points. The Blugolds struggled to close this gap as they remained behind by double digits for the remainder of the game.

UW-Eau Claire managed to shoot only 33% from the field and 28% from beyond the arc while committing 24 turnovers. In contrast, Gustavus achieved a shooting percentage of 47%.

Looking ahead, UW-Eau Claire will play their first away game on Saturday, November 16 against Central College in Pella, Iowa. The match is scheduled for a tip-off at 1 p.m.
