The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's hockey team secured its first win of the season with a 2-1 victory over St. Olaf on Friday night in Northfield, Minnesota. The Blugolds, ranked eighth, overcame an early deficit to claim the win.

St. Olaf took an early lead by scoring within the first two minutes of the game. However, UW-Eau Claire (1-1-0) responded late in the second period when Ava Bullert scored off a pass from Jess Eykyn, tying the game just before the second intermission.

In the third period, Quinn Hartmetz scored what would be the game-winning goal with assists from Rachel Mirwald and Maddie Hulter. Tegan Swanson earned her first career victory as a goaltender for UW-Eau Claire by playing all 60 minutes and making 11 saves.

The Blugolds dominated in shots on goal, outshooting St. Olaf 30-12. Both teams successfully killed off two penalties each during the match.

The series between these two teams will continue with a rematch scheduled for Saturday, November 9 at Hobbs Ice Arena. The game is set to start at 2 p.m.
