FOIA Request Sent to Dunn County Regarding Freedom of Information Act Logs on October 7, 2024

FOIA Request to Dunn County Regarding Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Logs on October 7, 2024.

In our continuous effort to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Chippewa Valley Times have sent a request for records under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., to Dunn County.

The requested records include a list of FOIA logs that were sent to the county from January 1, 2024, until October 7, 2024. The specific fields we are interested in include the requester's name and organization, the content and date of the request, the date when the request was completed, and the status of the FOIA.

As journalists committed to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.

We will continue to keep you updated as we gather and report news regarding local government affairs.
