Eight athletes from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's lacrosse team were recognized with All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) honors. The selections included one first-team, two second-team honorees, and five honorable mentions.
Reegan Werner made history as the first Blugold to be named to the All-WIAC first team. Werner, a sophomore midfielder from Farmington, Minnesota, led her team with 43 goals and 62 points this season, bringing her career total to 99 points.
Junior Alexandria Shea and sophomore Lily Zygowicz secured positions on the All-WIAC second team. Shea played every minute in goal for the Blugolds this season, securing 12 wins with 133 saves. Zygowicz is tied for 25th in Division III as of Wednesday with 49 assists, setting a new program record for most assists in a single season and becoming the all-time assists leader for the program.
Honorable mentions went to juniors Samantha Burns and Ruby Pozorski, sophomores Devon Crews and Alexie Romanelli, and freshman Victoria Shea. Burns surpassed 100 career points and goals this season. Crews ranked fifth on the team with 39 points. Pozorski contributed defensively with ten caused turnovers and offensively with two points. Romanelli reached both the 100-goal and 100-point milestones in her career this spring. Victoria Shea had an impressive freshman year, finishing second on the team in goals.
Emma Tritschler represented UW-Eau Claire on the All-Sportsmanship Team.
