The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's lacrosse team achieved a narrow victory over UW-River Falls, securing third place in the first Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Tournament. The match took place on Saturday at Ramer Field, where the Blugolds came from behind to win 12-11.

Key players for UW-Eau Claire included Samantha Burns, Alexie Romanelli, and Victoria Shea, each contributing three points. Initially trailing 8-4 at halftime, the Blugolds made a strong comeback in the second half. Early goals by Burns and Shea reduced the deficit to two. Although the Falcons managed another goal making it 9-6, the Blugolds responded with five consecutive goals.

Raegan Valois initiated this streak late in the third period. Jess Stiller scored early in the fourth quarter to break a tie and secure a lead that was maintained until the end. Stiller and Reegan Werner added crucial insurance goals before UW-River Falls narrowed the gap with two late scores.

Goalkeeper Alexandria Shea recorded seven saves, marking her 12th win of the season. Both Stiller and Werner ended with two points each. The Blugolds outshot their opponents 34-26 and had an edge in draw controls with a count of 13-10.

Completing their inaugural WIAC season with a record of 12-5, UW-Eau Claire now awaits NCAA Tournament selections due on Monday, May 6.
