Nick Amtmann, a junior from Nashotah, Wisconsin, has been recognized as the UW-Eau Claire Athletics' Blugold of the Week. He is majoring in Finance and plays for the university's golf team.

When asked why he chose Eau Claire, Amtmann said, "I chose Eau Claire because of my coach, the team chemistry, Eau Claire Country Club." Beyond athletics, he is involved with Athletes In Action (AIA), an organization that aims to help athletes grow physically, mentally, and spiritually.

Amtmann balances his responsibilities as a student-athlete by prioritizing his academic work before tournaments. "I balance being a student-athlete by trying to get all of my work done before tournaments so that I don't have to worry about school while I am playing golf," he explained.

Reflecting on his proudest moment at UW-Eau Claire, Amtmann mentioned tying the score record of 66 at Lake Arrowhead. Among his unique talents is juggling.

He aspires to become a financial planner or work in commercial real estate and dreams of traveling to Italy. If given a chance to spend a day with any professional athlete or celebrity, Amtmann would choose golfer Scottie Scheffler.

His advice for fellow student-athletes is simple: "Have fun in whatever sport you are playing and make good relationships with your teammates."

Head Men's Golf Coach Darrin Skinner praised Amtmann's resilience and dedication: "Nick is someone we can count on each day. When he is not playing his best he understands the necessity of fighting it out for the team." Skinner emphasized that this quality makes him an elite player.

Corey Boerner from Men's Golf described Amtmann as "smooth" and highlighted his mental fortitude: "He has always been one of the steadiest players on the team... Every round he comes off his final hole with a smile no matter the outcome."

Amtmann's positive influence extends beyond the course; Boerner noted how Amtmann sets an example for younger teammates through hard work and optimism.
