UW-Eau Claire women's tennis ends season with WIAC semifinal loss

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis team concluded its season with a narrow 5-4 loss to UW-La Crosse in the semifinals of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Team Tournament. The match took place on Saturday at Premier Tennis and Fitness in Janesville, Wisconsin.

In doubles play, Samantha Fuchs and Anna Lee secured an 8-5 victory in the No. 1 match, while Téa Armstrong and Liv Herzog won their No. 3 match with an 8-4 score. These victories gave the Blugolds a lead of 2-1 as they moved into singles matches.

Anna Lee continued her strong performance by winning the No. 2 singles match with scores of 7-5, 3-6, and 10-7. Sydney Presler also contributed by winning the No. 4 singles match decisively at 6-2, 6-0. Despite these efforts, UW-La Crosse rallied back to win at positions No. 1, No. 3, No. 5, and No. 6 to secure their advancement to the WIAC finals.

The Blugolds ended their season with a record of 13 wins and seven losses and made notable progress by entering the Intercollegiate Tennis Association national rankings for the first time since their last appearance in this poll in 2003.
