The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's soccer team, ranked sixteenth, began their 2024 season with a home game against Edgewood College. The Blugolds secured a 1-0 victory through a goal from junior transfer Carson Kowalski.

Kowalski, from Mundelein, Illinois, scored at the 6:31 mark by converting a rebound off the crossbar. Nathan Donovan, last season's leading scorer for UWEC and hailing from Hazel Green, Wisconsin, assisted after his initial throw-in hit the crossbar.

Sam Lynch and Porter Ball each contributed two shots on goal to lead the team's offensive efforts. Goalkeepers Mark Belknap and Spencer Banks combined for the shutout; Belknap made three saves while Banks added a crucial save just before regulation ended.

Belknap earned the win and starts the season with a record of 1-0-0.

Next, UW-Eau Claire (1-0-0) will face Macalester College in a nonconference match on Sunday, September 1st at Simpson Field with kickoff scheduled for 5 p.m.
