Rauvola, Hady, Men’s and Women’s Cross Country teams win City Wells 5k

University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire Athletics issued the following announcement on Oct. 22

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's and women's cross country teams were both victorious in the City Wells 5k, taking home wins over UW-Stout in a dual meet setting. Held at the Eau Claire City Municipal Wells, the men scored 22 points to Stout's 39, while the women put up a perfect score of 15 points, bringing home the first five runners in the race.

In a dominant fashion, the Blugold women had a stellar race, placing the first 9 runners in a row. Mikayla Hady (Fr. - Springfield, IL/Sacred Heart Griffin) led the way for the Blugolds, running 18:59.0 for the 5k and taking home the individual win. Alanna Huggett (Sr. - Marshall, WI/Marshall), Michelle Hirsch (Sr. - Brookfield, WI/Brookfield), Allison Wessinger (Fr. - River Falls, WI/River Falls), and Gina Behling (Sr. - Brookfield, WI/Brookfield East) rounded out the top 5, taking 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th, respectively.

Taking home the team win, the Blugold men put up a good team win over UW-Stout, with Wyatt Rauvola (So. - Floodwood, MN/Floodwood) edging out Alex Carlson (Fr. - Bristol, IL/Marmion Academy) for the individual win, with both running 16:12 for 5k. The next three Blugolds to cross the line were Eric Kordus (Fr. - Mosinee, WI/Mosinee) in 5th, Joey Thaler (Fr. - Chippewa Falls, WI/McDonell) in 6th, and Logan Meinert (Fr. - Andover, MN/Andover) in 8th.

Next up for the Blugolds will be the beginning of the championship season, starting with the WIAC Conference Championship, held at Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax, WI.
