Ethan Leeser, a junior at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire from Rochester, Minnesota, has been named Blugold of the Week by UW-Eau Claire Athletics and BSN Sports/Nike. Leeser, who majors in Actuarial Science with a minor in Finance, has also been recognized for his role as a student-athlete.
Leeser chose UW-Eau Claire due to his appreciation for the campus and his connection to friends attending the university. In addition to playing on the men's tennis team, he is involved in the actuarial club on campus. Asked about balancing academics with sports, Leeser emphasizes "prioritizing time management and keeping a good schedule."
Reflecting on his athletic career, Leeser says he is most proud of his improvement since his freshman year. His favorite pre and post-competition snack is the "Perfect Bar," and he dreams of a career as a sports analyst. Someday, he hopes to travel to New Zealand and spend time with professional athlete Roger Federer. To incoming student-athletes, Leeser advises, "Enjoy your time as a college athlete and appreciate all the moments, even when it is hard. The time will go fast."
Head Tennis Coach Matt Boughton praises Leeser, stating, "Ethan plays a big role in helping to create the culture of this team. Ethan is a fantastic teammate and is always supporting his teammates. He is a lead by example athlete and has been putting in effort on and off the court, and in the gym. Ethan is representing the team as our SAAC athlete."
