The Hudson School District has been recognized with an "Exceeds Expectations" rating on the state School Report Card by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI). This achievement places the district in the 90th percentile among school districts across Wisconsin.
The DPI's report cards are part of a state accountability system, assessing every public school and district. In addition to the overall district rating, all eight schools within Hudson received ratings ranging from "Meets Expectations" to "Significantly Exceeds Expectations."
Each school's report card evaluates several priority areas: Student Achievement, which measures students' knowledge and skills against state and national standards; Student Growth, reflecting year-to-year changes in student knowledge; Target Group Outcomes, focusing on academic growth for students with previously low scores; and On-Track and Postsecondary Readiness, considering graduation rates and post-graduation potential.
"The School District continually reviews and revises its curriculum and instruction to ensure we address areas for student growth," stated a district representative. The report cards are one of many tools used by the district to evaluate student progress.
While most data stems from statewide assessments such as the Forward exam for grades 4-8, Aspire for grades 9-10, and ACT for grade 11, there was a reporting error regarding program participation at Hudson High School. Although this does not affect any scores, efforts are underway to correct this with DPI.
"We are proud of the students and staff that have worked hard to have all of our schools exceed or significantly exceed expectations," noted a statement from the district.
