FOIA Request to City of Franklin Regarding New Voter Registrations on November 7, 2024.
In a recent move towards ensuring transparency and accountability in public institutions, we at Chippewa Valley Times have sent an official request to the City of Franklin. The request was made under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., and it seeks to obtain a list of new voters who registered on November 5, 2024.
As a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we believe that access to public records is crucial for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. This includes holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
Given our role in disseminating information, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional. We await the response from the City of Franklin and will continue to work towards ensuring transparency in our democratic processes.
