FOIA Request to City of Montreal Regarding New Voter Registrations on November 7, 2024.
At Chippewa Valley Times, we have submitted a request under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., to the City of Montreal for a list of new voters who registered on November 5, 2024.
As a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. This includes holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
We believe that as members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals. We look forward to the City of Montreal's response and will continue our commitment towards promoting transparency in local government affairs.
