A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the City of Menomonie regarding new voter registrations on November 7, 2024.
As a part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Chippewa Valley Times requested records under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., specifically seeking a list of new voters who registered to vote on November 5, 2024.
Access to public records is essential for us in fulfilling our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
We await a response from the City of Menomonie regarding this request. We remain committed to disseminating information that promotes transparency and accountability within our community.
