The Wisconsin and Minnesota volleyball teams announced on April 3 that their spring exhibition match, scheduled for Friday, April 10 at The Sonnentag on the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire campus, has been canceled as a precaution for the health and safety of both teams. The match will not be rescheduled.
This cancellation affects both programs’ spring schedules. The Badgers will next compete in the Frozen Phoenix Invite at the Kress Center in Green Bay against UW-Green Bay on Saturday, April 18. The Gophers are set to play in the Northern Iowa Tournament on the same day.
The decision to cancel comes as part of ongoing efforts to protect student-athletes during their off-season activities. According to the official website, the UW-Eau Claire Blugolds serve both their campus and surrounding community through statewide collegiate athletics. The university supports more than two dozen varsity sports teams for men and women, utilizing various facilities both on-campus and off-campus for its 25 intercollegiate teams according to the official website.
Since its inception, UW-Eau Claire’s Hall of Fame has recognized 271 athletes, coaches, and administrators according to the official website. All athletic operations are managed under the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire athletics department according to the official website. Based in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, these athletic programs aim to represent both university interests and engage with local communities according to the official website.
As schedules adjust due to this cancellation, fans can continue following updates about Blugold Athletics through their official channels online.
