UW-Eau Claire lost 1–0 in overtime to Gustavus Adolphus in a closely contested home game. Despite recording 30 shots on goal, the Blugolds were unable to score, while Gustavus Adolphus secured the win with an overtime goal.
The match began with Gustavus Adolphus taking control early and testing UW-Eau Claire’s goaltender Kambelle Freije, who made several key saves in the opening period. The Blugolds successfully killed two penalties during this time, and both teams had scoring opportunities, including a near miss by Eva Nelson of Gustavus Adolphus. The first period ended without any goals.
In the second period, both teams continued to press offensively but remained scoreless. Early attempts from UW-Eau Claire’s Lauren Ballinger and Harper Poehling were stopped by Gusties’ goalie Lily Timmons. Both sides had power play chances but could not convert, with Freije making important saves for the Blugolds.
The third period saw continued defensive strength from both teams. UW-Eau Claire’s defense, anchored by Freije, prevented Gustavus Adolphus from scoring despite multiple attempts. Neither team managed to break through before regulation time ended.
Lily Mortenson scored the only goal of the game at 3:40 in overtime for Gustavus Adolphus. The unassisted goal was her fourth of the season and came after missed opportunities from both teams earlier in the extra period.
UW-Eau Claire’s Madisyn Krumholz won two out of three faceoffs for a 66 percent win rate, while Lauren Ballinger led with 16 faceoff wins at a 59 percent rate. Adrienne Hansen contributed three assists and maintained a 61 percent faceoff success rate. Goalie Kambelle Freije finished with 22 saves and allowed just one goal.
Following this result, UW-Eau Claire holds an overall record of 6-2-0 this season; Gustavus Adolphus is now at 4-3-0 overall.
