The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women’s basketball team achieved a significant victory over Martin Luther College, winning 94-43 at the Sonnentag Event Center. This win marks the team’s highest point total since 2022 and their largest margin of victory since 2019. It is also the second-largest margin for the program in nearly two decades.
During the game, UW-Eau Claire collected 57 rebounds, including 23 on offense, and forced 24 turnovers, converting those into 25 points. The Blugolds dominated inside with 50 points in the paint and received strong support from their bench, which contributed 56 points. Eighteen different players scored for UW-Eau Claire.
Britta DeMar opened scoring early with two layups in the first minutes. Reanna Hutchinson made a defensive impact with a steal that led to another fast-break layup by DeMar. Delaney Nyenhuis added two free throws after being fouled at just under seven minutes remaining in the first quarter. The Knights managed their first points at 8:35, but UW-Eau Claire’s defense held them to only four points by quarter’s end while building a lead of 21-4.
In the second quarter, UW-Eau Claire continued to capitalize on turnovers and fast breaks. Hutchinson added another fast-break layup assisted by DeMar. Despite Martin Luther hitting a three-pointer and making a free throw during this period, Paige Keller responded with her own three-pointer to keep momentum with UWEC.
The third quarter saw further dominance from UW-Eau Claire as they outscored Martin Luther 27-8. DeMar started off with a three-pointer assisted by Olivia Witkowski. Kyla Overskei extended the lead with another three-pointer, while Emma Donovan scored consecutive layups thanks to assists from Macie Miller.
In the final quarter, Emily Vogel set an early tone with a layup before Martin Luther hit back-to-back threes. Abby Bloch contributed multiple offensive rebounds and scored key points late in the game as Marin Wilson and Sydney Subke each recorded steals to help secure victory.
Kyla Overskei led all scorers for UW-Eau Claire with 12 points—including four three-pointers—and seven rebounds. Karsyn Bauman finished with seven points, three steals, and three assists; Delaney Nyenhuis grabbed eight rebounds and had three steals; Emma Donovan added six points along with two steals.
With this result, UW-Eau Claire improves its season record to 7-1 while Martin Luther falls to 4-3 overall.
UW-Eau Claire will next play Gustavus Adolphus College on Saturday, December 13 at Gus Young Court in St. Peter, Minnesota.
