The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men’s and women’s track and field teams achieved top-three team finishes at the WIAC Outdoor Championships, according to a May 2 announcement. The men’s team placed third overall, while the women’s team finished second out of eight teams in total points.
These results highlight the continued strength of UW-Eau Claire’s athletic programs, which serve both the campus and surrounding community through statewide collegiate athletics, according to the official website. The Blugolds field more than two dozen varsity sports teams for men and women.
In individual performances, Allyson Kakes secured second place in both the women’s 100 meters (12.03 seconds) and 200 meters (24.33 seconds), while Kylee Grabarski took second in the 400 meters with a time of 56.25 seconds. Hooker claimed first place in the women’s 800 meters at 2:10.97, with Lauren Jex finishing sixth in that event. In distance events, Molly Heidorn placed third in the women’s 5000 meters (17:07.46), and Keeley Behr earned second place in the women’s 10,000 meters (35:43.81). On the men’s side, Reilly Templeton finished fourth in the men’s 200 meters finals with a time of 21.63 seconds.
The Blugolds utilize various on-campus and off-campus facilities for their intercollegiate teams, as reported by their official website. The program has also enshrined over two hundred athletes, coaches, and administrators into its Hall of Fame since its inception.
