The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men’s and women’s swim and dive teams both finished in fourth place at the Rochester Invitational, held in Rochester, Minnesota and hosted by St. Cloud State University.
On the men’s side, Emmett Botten secured a third-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly while Zhander Rowley took second in the 100-yard breaststroke. Drew Testin delivered several top-five performances, including third place in the 200 freestyle with a conference-leading time of 1:41.63. Testin also contributed to a fourth-place finish in the 400 medley relay and was part of the fifth-place 200 freestyle relay team. Rowley added a third-place result in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:05.52, and Botten placed fourth in the 100-yard butterfly. In diving events, Charlie Nohner finished ninth on the one-meter board and fifth on the three-meter.
Other notable results for the men’s team included Henry Botten, Jack Gunderson, Emmett Botten, and Evan Bushko finishing sixth in the 200-yard medley relay. Derek Stadheim and Kaden Zink placed fourth and fifth respectively in the 1650-yard freestyle.
For the women’s team, Elaina Plonis won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:06.15 and placed second in the 100-yard butterfly at 57.17, which stands as a conference best this season. Molly Hosack finished second in the 500-yard freestyle (5:05.89) and third in the 1650-yard freestyle (17:41.70). Plonis also contributed to relay teams that placed seventh in the 800 free relay and second in both the 400 medley relay and another relay event.
Grace Schnabl played key roles across multiple relays, including helping secure second place finishes for both the women’s 800-yard freestyle relay (7:47.15) and women’s 400 yard medley relay (3:53.74). In individual events, Schnabl placed eighth in the women’s 100-yard freestyle.
In diving for UW-Eau Claire’s women’s team, Jordan Kuhn was their highest scorer with two fifteenth-place finishes on both boards.
Relay teams performed well overall; Erika Schroeder, Amber Winter, Abby Voelker, and Schnabl took second place for UWEC’s women’s squad in the Women’s 200 Yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:46.56.
The Blugolds will next compete against St. Norbert College on Saturday, January 17th in De Pere.
