The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men’s track and field team earned several first-place finishes at the UW-Platteville Invitational, according to an April 11 announcement. Johnny Botsch won the men’s pole vault with a height of 4.91 meters, while Blake Postler took first in the men’s 110 hurdles with a time of 14.15 seconds.
The event saw strong performances across multiple disciplines for the Blugolds. In sprints, Bruce Burau, Jackson Schulz, and Nicholas Luebke placed fourth, fifth, and seventh respectively in the men’s 100 meters finals. Fischer Wait finished seventh in the men’s 200 meters with a time of 22.08 seconds.
In middle distance competition, Jack Wanezek secured fifth place in the men’s 800 meters by finishing in 1:55.48. For distance events, Andrew Thaler and Ian Barnes both completed the men’s 5000 meter run under fifteen minutes.
Daylan Berger claimed victory in the men’s 400 hurdles with a time of 54.39 seconds. Jace Stolte won the long jump with a mark of 6.87 meters, while Gage Stankiewicz led shot put competitors with an effort of 18.29 meters and Adam Beck finished fourth in hammer throw at a distance of 53 meters.
According to the official website, UW-Eau Claire Blugolds serve both their campus and surrounding community through collegiate athletics statewide and operate under their university’s athletics department structure. The program fields more than two dozen varsity sports teams for men and women utilizing various on-campus and off-campus facilities for its twenty-five intercollegiate teams according to their official site. Since its Hall of Fame was established, UW-Eau Claire has recognized over two hundred seventy athletes, coaches, and administrators according to school records.
Looking ahead, “The Blugolds will be back in action on Friday and Saturday, April 17 and 18 at the Phil Esten Challenge,” as stated by team officials.
