The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men’s track and field team recorded several first-place finishes at the UW-La Crosse Ashton May Invitational on April 3, including wins by Reilly Templeton in the 200 meters, Fischer Wait in the 400 meters, and Tyler Botz in the 110 hurdles.
The event marked a strong start to the outdoor season for UW-Eau Claire, which fields more than two dozen varsity sports teams for men and women according to the official website. In sprint events, Templeton finished third in the men’s 100 meters with a time of 10.79 seconds before winning the men’s 200 meters at 21.42 seconds. Nick Odom followed closely behind in second place for the same event with a time of 22.22 seconds. Evan Guenther secured second place in the men’s 800 meters with a time of 1:59.18.
Distance races saw Jonah Majerus take first place in the men’s 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:27.90 while Noah Larkin finished third at 10:42.85. In hurdles competition, Botz won the men’s 110 hurdles finals with a time of 14.83 seconds, while Blake Postler claimed first place in the men’s 400 hurdles at 52.07 seconds followed by Daylan Berger’s second-place finish at 55.67 seconds.
Field events included Leo Orlikowski’s third-place result in high jump (1.96m) and Johnny Botsch’s seventh-place pole vault (4.55m). Jamie Reeve took first place in javelin (51.42m), while Adam Beck placed fourth in hammer throw (53.70m).
