The UW-Eau Claire men’s tennis team secured a 7-0 victory over Webster University on March 18 in Orlando, Florida. The Blugolds won all singles matches and took two out of three doubles contests to complete the sweep.
This result highlights the team’s strong performance as they continue their season representing both the university and the surrounding community. According to the official website, the UW-Eau Claire Blugolds serve the campus and surrounding community through statewide collegiate athletics.
In doubles play, Peyton Sheffert and Ethan Heidtke lost at No. 1, but Avery Ellison and Cohen Newberg responded with a win at No. 2. Jack Michaud and Logan Carroll earned a walkover victory at No. 3 doubles. In singles, Danylo Ripeckyj won at No. 1 with scores of 6-3, 7-5, while Emilio Monge claimed a straight-set win at No. 2. Carroll and Michaud also posted victories in their respective flights, with Heidtke and Ellison each receiving walkovers to round out the singles sweep.
The Blugolds utilize various on-campus and off-campus facilities for their 25 intercollegiate teams according to the official website. Since its inception, the program has enshrined 271 athletes, coaches, and administrators in its Hall of Fame according to the official website.
