The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men’s basketball team achieved its tenth consecutive victory with a 68-49 win over UW-Superior at Mertz Mortorelli Gymnasium on Saturday. The Blugolds dominated inside play, outscoring the Yellowjackets 42-18 in the paint and receiving significant contributions from their bench, which added 32 points.
Kenji Scales opened the game for UW-Eau Claire with a jumper less than 20 seconds into the first half. Xavier Lewis contributed consistent inside scoring, helping the Blugolds secure a 10-point lead by halftime. Joey Butz also played a key role in the opening half with two three-pointers. Despite UW-Superior’s efforts to stay close with long-range shooting, UW-Eau Claire maintained control and led 33-23 at halftime.
In the second half, Will Boser started with a three-pointer, extending the visitors’ momentum. Carter Lichtsinn added nine points and made both his free throw attempts, while Scales continued to contribute with assists and additional scoring. The Yellowjackets were unable to contain UW-Eau Claire’s offense despite some successful three-point shots.
Carter Lichtsinn finished with a double-double—12 rebounds and seven points—while Xavier Lewis recorded 10 points and 11 rebounds. Kenji Scales led all scorers for the Blugolds with 10 points on five-of-eight shooting from the field. Roan Demovsky had two steals and collected four rebounds.
With this win, UW-Eau Claire remains undefeated at 10-0 overall this season. UW-Superior drops to 2-8.
UW-Eau Claire is scheduled to play North Park University on Sunday, December 21 at The Sonnentag Event Center in Eau Claire.
