The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women’s lacrosse team secured a 12–10 victory over the College of Saint Benedict at Simpson Field on Apr. 1. The Blugolds improved their record to 5-2 overall and remain undefeated in conference play at 3-0.
This result highlights the competitive nature of collegiate athletics for both teams, with UW-Eau Claire maintaining its strong performance within the conference.
The match began with early goals from Reegan Werner and Ellie Fisher, giving UW-Eau Claire an initial lead. Despite a brief comeback by Saint Benedict, which included three consecutive goals and a short-lived advantage, the Blugolds responded with four straight goals. Jess Stiller contributed significantly during this period, including a player-up goal that helped UW-Eau Claire regain momentum. By halftime, the Blugolds held a narrow lead.
In the third quarter, UW-Eau Claire extended its advantage through scores by Stiller and Emma Tammi, as well as contributions from Grace Schmidt and Victoria Shea. Although Saint Benedict continued to press offensively—led by Rayna Malmberg and Ava Mosley—the Blugolds managed to hold off their opponents’ late push in the fourth quarter.
Shea led all scorers for UW-Eau Claire with three goals and one assist while Stiller also recorded three goals on perfect shooting. Schmidt added two assists along with her game-winning goal. Paige Kiani scored twice for the home team as well.
