The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire baseball team split a doubleheader against the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse at Carson Park on Apr. 20, winning the second game after dropping the first. The Blugolds lost the opener 5–3 but came back to secure a narrow 3–2 victory in the nightcap.

This matchup was important for both teams as they continue their conference schedules and look to improve their standings. The games also provided an opportunity for players to showcase their skills in front of home fans and contribute to their season records.

In game one, UW-Eau Claire took an early lead with runs from Logan Hesselman and Will Johnson, who hit a two-run home run. However, UW-La Crosse rallied late in the seventh inning, capitalizing on errors and timely hitting to overtake the Blugolds. Despite efforts from Kellen Smith and Ian George reaching base in later innings, Eau Claire could not recover. Aaron Skrypek pitched over six innings with six strikeouts but took his second loss of the season.

The second game saw UW-Eau Claire score three runs in the first inning through walks, a sacrifice fly by John Digregorio, and a two-RBI single from Diego Caicedo. Sebastian De la Toba delivered a complete game performance on the mound for Eau Claire, striking out eight batters while allowing just one earned run across nine innings without issuing any walks. Defensive plays including two double plays helped maintain their lead despite pressure from La Crosse’s offense late in the game.

According to the official website, the UW-Eau Claire Blugolds serve both campus and community through statewide collegiate athletics. The program fields more than two dozen varsity sports teams for men and women according to its website, utilizing various athletic facilities for its 25 intercollegiate teams as reported by university sources. Since its Hall of Fame began, it has enshrined 271 athletes, coaches, and administrators according to official records.
