The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire softball team secured two wins against St. Catherine University on Mar. 29, taking the first game 9-1 and the second game 15-7.
The doubleheader adds to a strong season for the Blugolds, who now hold an 18-4 record. The results reflect both offensive depth and pitching strength as UW-Eau Claire continues its collegiate athletics campaign.
In the opening game, Claire Beck led with a complete-game performance, allowing only two hits over five innings while striking out two batters and walking none. Jane Wallace opened scoring in the first inning before Beck and Chloe Ricard each contributed RBI singles. By the end of four innings, Breeley Gluch capped off a decisive rally with a two-run home run, securing a commanding lead for UW-Eau Claire.
Game two saw St. Catherine score twice in their first at-bat before UW-Eau Claire responded with an eight-run surge in their half of the inning, highlighted by Paige Lathrop’s pair of RBI hits and Wallace’s six runs batted in across two home runs. Kasey Felden pitched two scoreless innings to close out the win after Lauren Trottier started on the mound.
