The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire baseball team faced challenges in their doubleheader against the No. 10 ranked UW-La Crosse. The matches, both held at Copeland Park, concluded the four-game set, with the Blugolds losing 5-3 in the first game and 9-1 in the series finale.

In the first game, UW-Eau Claire built an early 3-1 lead up to the midway point, thanks to Jack Eustice’s RBI from a fielder’s choice and Austin Curti’s RBI single in the fifth inning. However, the Eagles turned the tables, adding one run in the sixth, and secured their lead with a two-run single in the seventh.

Nicholas Meuser, the Blugolds’ pitcher, gave a noteworthy performance, lasting 6.2 innings and allowing four runs while striking out three. This follows his nine scoreless innings against UW-Oshkosh the previous week.

In the second game, the Blugolds took another early lead when Dustan Green scored on a wild pitch in the opening inning. However, UW-La Crosse responded quickly with two runs in the second inning and continued to dominate offensively, scoring five more runs in the final two innings. Consequently, the Blugolds were limited to only two hits.

The Blugolds, who now hold a season record of 6-23 and a conference record of 0-18, are slated to host UW-Stevens Point for an upcoming doubleheader at Carson Park on April 23, with the first game beginning at noon.
