The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire baseball team lost both games of a doubleheader against the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on April 19 at Carson Park, with final scores of 5–1 and 7–4.
These losses affect the Blugolds’ position in their conference standings, bringing their record to 15-12 overall and 8-7 in conference play. The results highlight the challenges faced by the team as they continue their season.
In the first game, UW-Eau Claire managed only one run in the eighth inning after Austin Curti singled and was driven home by Logan Scuglik’s RBI hit. Despite this effort, UW-La Crosse broke a tie with a four-run rally in the ninth inning. Keegan Fleischman’s single brought home three runs for La Crosse, helped by a throwing error. Nicholas Meuser pitched eight innings for Eau Claire, allowing four earned runs on seven hits with six strikeouts. Ben Dorantes provided relief pitching for one inning.
The second game saw Will Johnson hit a three-run homer for Eau Claire in the seventh inning to narrow La Crosse’s lead to one run. However, Charley Rowan responded with a two-RBI single for La Crosse in the eighth inning, securing their win. Evan Fischer started on the mound for Eau Claire and pitched seven innings while Chase Watkins and Cooper Senne appeared in relief roles.
According to the official website, UW-Eau Claire Blugolds serve both campus and community through collegiate athletics statewide and operate under the university’s athletics department. The Blugolds field more than two dozen varsity sports teams for men and women using various facilities on and off campus according to official sources. Since its Hall of Fame began, they have enshrined 271 athletes, coaches, and administrators according to university records.
