The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire’s Yakob Ekoue has been recognized as the Division III Men’s Athlete of the Week for the week of April 21-27 by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. This accolade follows Ekoue’s outstanding performance at the Drake Relays.

During the event, Ekoue achieved a throw of 60.25 meters in the discus, making him the leading collegiate performer at the meet. This throw stands as the third-longest in Division III history and marks the best performance by a Division III athlete in this category since 2013. Additionally, two of Ekoue’s throws are ranked among the top ten in the division’s history.

In addition to his achievements in discus, the senior athlete also participated in shot put and hammer throw at the same meet.

Ekoue is the second athlete from the Blugolds this season to be awarded the Division III Men’s Athlete of the Week by the USTFCCCA, joining his fellow teammate, Adam Strouf.

Blugold fans can keep up with the team’s progress throughout the season on Blugolds.com, via the Blugold Sports app, and through social media platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
