Hanlin Liu shared her experiences on April 29 as she prepared to graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire after participating in the Cooperation in Higher Education and Professional Development dual-degree program, known as CHEPD 1+2+1.

The program allows students from China to study at UW-Eau Claire for two years, earning degrees from both their home university and UW-Eau Claire. Liu described arriving with what she called a “blank résumé,” but said her time at the university was filled with classroom achievements, research, internships, travel opportunities, and challenges that helped her grow stronger.

Liu said these experiences combined to fill that blank résumé as she looks ahead to becoming a Blugold alumna. The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is recognized for supporting a prominent Blugold Marching Band that performs at diverse events across the Midwest according to the official website.

The university contributes to Wisconsin’s culture, economy, and intellectual growth through collaborations with organizations such as Mayo Clinic Health System and Marshfield Clinic according to the official website. Its campus includes a Science and Health Sciences Building shared with Mayo Clinic Health System according to the official website.

UW-Eau Claire has received national recognition for its quality education, affordability, student success rates, and sustainability practices according to the official website. The university also focuses on developing critical-thinking skills in students while providing career-focused opportunities designed to prepare graduates for community involvement according to the official website.

As Liu prepares for graduation in May with a degree in finance, she reflected on how setbacks during her studies made her stronger and contributed significantly toward preparing for life after college.
