The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) has recognized the athletes of the week for the period of April 21-27. University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire’s Ethan Wurtzel received the honor of men’s tennis single player of the week. This recognition is determined by a vote from WIAC head coaches.

Wurtzel had a successful week, achieving a 4-0 record at the No. 1 singles position, contributing to the Blugolds’ five-dual win streak to conclude their season. He won three matches in straight sets, including a close tiebreak win against College of St. Scholastica’s Jonas Abeleda. During the match on April 24, Wurtzel’s victory helped secure a 4-3 win over the Saints. His other match involved a three-set battle against UW-Superior’s Igor Guetten Chaves, where Wurtzel emerged victorious.
