Braeden Resnick, a junior from Rice Lake, Wisconsin, has been named the UW-Eau Claire Athletics’ Blugold of the Week in collaboration with BSN Sports/Nike. Resnick, a Business Management major, shared insights into his choice of university, balancing academics and athletics, and his aspirations during an interview.
When asked why he chose UW-Eau Claire, Resnick said, “I chose Eau Claire because it has a strong business program, a cool campus, and the balance between academics and athletics allows me to achieve my goals in my personal life, on the golf course, and in the classroom.”
Resnick elaborated on managing his dual roles, stating, “Balancing both is definitely a commitment and requires discipline and time management. I try to stay organized by planning out my weeks, sticking to a routine, and giving my best in both school and golf. Focusing on putting one foot in front of the other and taking things one thing at a time has also been very beneficial for me.”
Reflecting on his athletic journey, Resnick expressed pride in the relationships formed, “Instead of a specific moment, I would say I am most proud of the lifelong friendships I have built with the guys on the team over the years and the life lessons I learned from the game of golf and being a college athlete.”
For competitions, Resnick favors snacking on a “Chocolate Mint Cliff Builders Bar” and mentions snowboarding as a unique talent. Looking forward, he dreams of “build[ing] and own[ing] my own business someday.” A dream travel destination would be “Scotland for a golf trip,” while he would choose to spend a day with Tiger Woods.
For current and aspiring Blugold student-athletes, Resnick advises, “Whether it’s in your work, your sport, your academics, or anything you pursue, learn to fall in love with the process—not just the goal or the end result. When you fall in love with the process, you can see the vision for taking things one step at a time.”
