The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men’s and women’s swim and dive teams hosted UW-Stevens Point in a conference dual meet, resulting in a strong showing for the Blugolds. The men’s team won with a score of 176 to 124, while the women’s team secured a victory with a score of 227 to 66. Combined, the Blugolds outscored UW-Stevens Point 362 to 155.
On the men’s side, Zhander Rowley won both the 100-yard breaststroke (57.72) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:10.50). Emmett Botten took first place in the 200-yard butterfly (2:01.87) and the 100-yard butterfly (51.38). Derek Stadheim claimed victories in both the 200-yard freestyle (1:47.01) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:51.72). Drew Testin finished first in the 100-yard freestyle (48.21) and was part of the winning relay team.
In diving, Charlie Nohner placed second in the men’s three-meter event, while Tait Johnson finished second in the one-meter event.
The Blugold men also saw wins from Zink in both the 1000-yard freestyle (10:19.34) and the 400-yard individual medley (4:26.70), as well as victories in both relay events—the 400-yard medley relay (3:30.60) and the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:26.53).
For women’s swim and dive, Grace Schnabl won both sprint freestyles—50 yards (25.53) and 100 yards (54.96)—and contributed to winning teams in both relays, including a time of 4:04.55 for the medley relay and a finish of 1:40.98 for the freestyle relay.
Amber Winter led by placing first in both breaststroke events—the 100 yard at 1:10.05 and the 200 yard at 2:37.47—while Anwen Smith claimed victories in the 200-yard freestyle (2:00.54) and the 100-yard butterfly (59.86), contributing to two relay wins as well.
In women’s diving, Ella Josephs took first place on both boards—the three meter and one meter—with Jordan Kuhn finishing second on three meter and third on one meter, while Julia Schluter took third on three meter.
Hosack added more points by taking first place in distance events—the women’s thousand yard freestyle at 11:04.41 and five hundred yard at 5:25.59.
